Introducing Nzuri Sojourn

Welcome to Nzuri Sojourn. In this blog I would like to introduce you to some of the things that are important to me and that I have learned in my experiences living in very different cultures, being part of international communities, traveling, visiting artisan workshops in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and the United States. In a rapidly changing world, I appreciate the fascinating cultures that I grew up in and have experienced in my travels.

I have always appreciated handmade textiles for their exquisite craftsmanship and beauty. More and more I have come to appreciate these textiles not only for their intrinsic beauty but also for the way they are made using sustainable methods and locally-sourced organic materials. Today, handmade is harder to come by as fewer artisans are willing to put in the time to produce carefully made works. Nzuri is dedicated to working with these artisans.

I invite you to enjoy Nzuri Sojourn blog on artisan workshops, places I have visited and the California small-town community where I live.
